How to Buy American

Only 2% of clothing sold in the USA is made in the USA.

According to the Made In America Company, only 2% of the clothing sold in the United States today is actually made in the United States.

Buying American made goods and services is important to the health of our economy, we all know that. Why does it seem so hard to buy American made goods? Some people would say that it's because they aren't available, or that they are too expensive.

I'll admit, finding things that are made in the USA can be a bit like going on a scavenger hunt sometimes (which can be fun if you aren't on a strict timeline). On the bright side, being more conscious of where products are made has transformed me into a smarter shopper. I've been able to cut down on buying things I don't actually need by choosing not to buy anything made in China.

Finding American made products online has become a lot easier with the help of directories listing companies who manufacture here in the United States.

Here are some of our favorite directories. You can view our entire list of directories here.
